This policy covers percentagecalculator.tools (“the site”), operated by The Idea Works. It explains what information is collected when you visit, who else receives it, and what you can do about it.
What the calculators do with your numbers
Nothing leaves your device. Every calculator on this site is written in JavaScript that runs locally in your browser. The values you enter are not transmitted to a server, not written to a database, and not logged anywhere. Close the tab and they are gone. This is a deliberate design choice, not a policy promise — there is no server-side component that could receive them.
What we do not collect
The site has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no login. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, postal address or payment details, and there is no mechanism on the site for you to supply them — other than the contact form described below, where you choose what to send.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which calculators and guides people actually use. It sets cookies and reports aggregate information to us: pages viewed, approximate country or region derived from your IP address, referring site, device type and browser. We see totals and trends. We cannot identify you personally from this data, and we do not attempt to.
Google's own handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site that uses it with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. A few things follow from that:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads here, and may likewise use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure and target them.
- These vendors may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers, browser type and the pages you viewed, in order to select which ads to show you and to measure whether they worked.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a wider list of third-party vendors at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.com. Opting out does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. On this site they come from Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above; the site itself sets no cookies of its own. Every mainstream browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking them will not stop any calculator on this site from working — the maths does not depend on them.
If you use the contact form
The contact form is handled by Netlify Forms. If you submit it, the message and any contact details you choose to include are stored by Netlify and forwarded to us. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else — no mailing list, no sharing with third parties, no advertising. Netlify's handling of submissions is covered by the Netlify Privacy Policy.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server access logs. These may include IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs, and exist for security and reliability purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — the UK and EU under GDPR, California under the CCPA, and a growing number of other jurisdictions — you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold no accounts and no user records, in practice there is usually nothing on our side to retrieve or erase. For data held by Google or Netlify, use their privacy controls linked above, or contact us and we will help where we can.
If you are in the EU, UK or another region requiring prior consent for advertising cookies, ad personalisation is governed by Google's consent handling for publishers in those regions.
Children
This site is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new “last updated” date. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried.
